Segment #2: Scarecrow’s News Rant – Ron Paul is out, so I guess the revolution is over?
Presenter: SmartScarecrow
Estimated Time: 20 minutes
Your phrase for the day is, “controlling the dialog”.
Ok, so what the hell does “controlling the dialog” mean?
Today, we are trained by television to expect information to be transferred in 30 second sound bytes. The technique of studying an issues, analyzing the options and determining a course of action has not been part of the education curriculum for a very long time. If you cannot put your argument on the table and cause an emotional response in a 30 second sound byte, you have lost control of the dialog.
Our news is packaged much like a box of breakfast cereal. Items that require complex analysis are simply ignored in favor of presenting the latest Hollywood gossip, factoids and government sponsored sound bytes. The days of the investigative reporter whose mission in life is dig in city hall’s trash to find the dirt are gone
Our politics is similarly packaged and sold to us using advanced marketing techniques that would make Edward Bernays proud. The reason you will not hear a politician speak of the truely important issues of the day is because they cannot offer any real solutions. The challenges are complex, difficult to articulate and the solutions are painful and unpleasant. Best to avoid such topics and instead talk about JOBS, HEALTH CARE, GAY MARRIAGE and oh yeah, PROTECTION FROM INVISIBLE BOOGEY MEN !!!
Into this arena comes a lone voice of reason. An old geezer of a Doctor from Texas. He’s been in congress for quite a few terms and has gained a reputation of standing by principals not being for sale to the highest bidder.
When Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney would speak, they would attract hundreds. When Ron Paul would speak, he would attract thousands. It seems that there is a receptive audience to message that addresses important issues. The Ron Paul following increased steadily. In the 2008 election cycle maybe 10% of the voting population favored Ron Paul’s message. In the 2012 election cycle, it may have exceeded 20%.
Yeah, you betcha, the Wall Street owned, Madison Avenue trained politicians are scared to death of Ron Paul and his message. And the fact that people from a broad range of political affiliations find the message attractive and are actually able to understand it is a direct challenge to the current status quo. My God !!! This guy Ron Paul actually wants to eliminate the Federal Reserve, the goose that lays the golden eggs for the power behind the throne. That just cannot even be allowed to be discussed.
Now any of you who actually thought there was a chance that Ron Paul would achieve the Republican Presidential nomination, get with the program. It was never going to happen. And the fact that Ron Paul appears to have accepted that fact and withdrawn his candidacy should not really surprise anyone. Having son Rand Paul actually come forward and express support for Romney was a bit disappointing but understandable in a political system where compromise is often extracted by extraordinary means and principal is often the victim of necessity.
Ok, so a lot of people out there feel betrayed and maybe they have a right. A lot of people gave a lot of cash and a lot of their time to the Ron Paul campaign and had looked forward to seeing a cat fight on the floor of the Republican convention. I must admit, I would have enjoyed watching that, but its not to be.
But in hindsight, we should remember what Ron Paul did. He managed to “control the dialog”. He managed to get a number of key issues on the table for discussion. Issues that there should be a serious debate on, instead of being just accepted as political expediency. Things like WAR, HONEST MONEY, THE DEFICIT and INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM. These things need to be discussed and solutions need to be found fast. There is a growing number of people out there who are getting impatient waiting for the United Stated to remember the values on which it was founded. To them, the tree of liberty is starting to look a bit wilted.
So thank you Ron Paul for your service to the nation. You managed to get real issues that are important to all Americans into the public dialog. You did more to inform average Americans of the important issues of the day and potential solutions than all the alternative media talking heads combined. Wish we could have had you as President, but knew all along it was a slim chance. But for a brief moment in time, you controlled the dialog and made a significant contribution to the cause of freedom. I consider the capaign contributions I sent you money well spent.
By the way, there is a Libertarian on the ballot in all 50 states. A fellow named Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico. I do not agree with him on every issue but his positions are much closer to my own than Romney and Obama. Consider the issue, then make up your own damn mind!

Segment #3: Feature Presentation – Nick Dutch from the UK – Alternative energy on a tight budget
Presenter: Nick Dutch
Estimated time: 30 minutes
I will be talking about alternative energy solutions for home use incorporating wood gas stove technology, wind power; photovoltaic solar panels for battery charging and grid tie usage and alcohol as a fuel for cooking, heating and water heating. Also my search for zero carbon and off grid freedom in an urban setting. I will be stimulating thought as to what solutions, basic or more complex, people can use in their own homes.
The emphasis will be on the use of these technologies for those on a low income and promoting the idea that due to the international situation, its about time that alternative energy enthusiasts moved away from hobbyist work and on to helping people reduce their bills. I will be critical of conspiracy theorists, but will still be promoting an interest in preparedness.
